Can I adjust where it vents out?
The placement and sizing of the vent opening on the insert are not adjustable, but the back and the top of the range hood will be open to allow ventilation in either direction. We also have a recirculating option if needed.
Can I vent out the ceiling?
Yes. We recommend working with a licensed installer or contractor. Installation is acceptance.
Can I vent out the back wall?
Yes. We recommend working with a licensed installer or contractor. Installation is acceptance.
Is a damper Included?
No, but you can purchase them from our website.
What Is The Duct Size For Your Insert Fans, And Can I Customize It?
Required vent size opening varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Our standard insert fans available for checkout with a range hood have the following sizes:
- 290-CFM = 6” Round
- 395 CFM = 7” Round
- 610 CFM = 8” Round
- 1260 CFM = 10” Round
- 390 CFM Remote Blower = 6" Round
- 835 CFM Remote Blower = 8" Round
- 1260 CFM Remote Blower = 10" Round
Please note, we are not able to customize the duct size for our insert fans.
What Is CFM, And How Many Do I Need?
CFM = Cubic Feet per Minute
A range hood's power is measured in CFM. The larger this number, the more air the hood will remove. Generally, the rule for a gas stove is for every 10,000 thermal units your stove generates; you will need 100 CFM.
The best place to start is to find out how many BTUs your stove is. You can locate this information in the specifications for your range stove. Once you have the total amount of BTU's of your stove, take that number and divide it by 100, that will be the minimum CFM required. (Example 40,000 BTU stove needs at least 400 CFM).
What Is A Remote Blower?
A remote blower is a motor that is not in the range hood itself but positioned inside your ductwork, between the range hood and the end of your ducting. Typically on the rooftop or in the attic, and pulls the air through the ductwork to be exhausted outside.
The primary benefit of a remote blower is that it's quieter than an insert fan located inside a range hood.
With all of the factors in play (liner size vs. CFM rating vs. duct collar diameter differences), we don't recommend that you connect our liner to your existing remote blower system.
What Is The Most Powerful Remote Blower Ventilation System You Offer For Range Hoods?
We currently offer a 1260 CFM remote blower system for our range hoods, our most powerful CFM option for indoors at this time.
If your range hood project involves outdoor grilling, we offer BBQ liners!
What Is A Recirculating (Ductless) Range Hood?
A recirculating or ductless range hood consists of a fan (or a blower, motor) with a charcoal filter that traps grease particles, heat, smells, and smoke, filters it, and then recirculates it back into the kitchen.
The exhaust vents are usually at the top of the range hood or on the side, and when you turn on the range hood, you will be able to feel the air exhausted back into the room.
Do Your Insert Fans Include Makeup Air, And Do I Need It?
Our insert fans do not include makeup air.
Do I need make-up air?
We recommend referring to your local building codes as each city and state has different requirements.
Are there different settings for your fan speeds?
Yes, low, medium, and high.
How do I clean the insert fan filters?
We recommend a dishwashing detergent with grease-cleaning power. The filters are dishwasher safe and can also be cleaned by hand.
My vent system is not working. What should I do?
Prior to submitting a support request with us, please confirm that you had a licensed general contractor install the product. Ventilation systems must be installed and worked on by licensed professionals. Please check with your installer. After that point, please create a ticket here for our staff to review your issue.
